Cry my beloved 2

Kenya is ready for a revolution. The signs are there. The greedy ruling class is not listening to the cries of the people. This is a ticking time bomb waiting for a fool(ish moment) to ignite it.

In Kenya's history, even in Moi's repressive 24 years in the helm, we never heard of the people booing the president - EVER! Today (12th December, 2008), Kibaki was booed off the stage at Nyayo Stadium during the official celebrations of Kenya's 45th Jamhuri (independence) celebrations. That says a lot, and I hope he, and parliamentarians, takes heed. The mood on the ground is volatile, and events today didn't help. The manner of arrest of journalists and civil activists - for wearing t-shirts with an anti-parliament message - was unproffessional, crass and archaic. It's only a matter of time before we see people in the streets, and police (who don't know any better) out with their teargas to supress views that affect them (as well).

The last time iblogged was in the beginning of the year when I was afrauid of what of world I was about to get child in.. I am afraid, but defiant. As I blog this, Bob Marley gives me strength with his 'Redemption Song'...have no fear for atomic energy, coz none of them can stop the time, how long shall they kill our prophets, while we stand aside and look, some say it's a part of it, we gat to fulfil JAH book, won't you help to sing, this songs of freedom?.... There's a greater power than man, a gretaer destiny,a greater need for good, than a few individuals can control. Malipo ni hapa hapa duniani.

I cry for me beloved, because we have a class of 200 fools who think they have the right brains for 30, 000, 000 others. My country is headed for a revolution. And I am happy.

Religion

I have gone a full circle when it comes to religious views. I went to sunday school, went to church, went for prayer meetings, joined the CU (Xtian Union), got 'saved', backslid, wandered and now I've found myself - well I did ten or twelve years ago.

What I've come to believe is religion is a means for man to live good with each other - an enabler if you may. All religions have a single common denominator - the reward of a better after-life, for living good with mankind on earth. So, I beg to ask, what happens if man is the kindest, most polite human being, yet he is not exposed to any religion? What happens to the 'souls' of our ancestors who were not exposed to 'modern' religions - were they condemned for not knowing, or is their fate under a higher power?

I have some 'touchy' views on some of the practices I have seen growing up, especially with Xtianity, which I was more exposed to, but for the sake of peace I shall keep those to myself.

I was reading Sidney Poitier's memoir, "The True Measure Of a Man", and I came across an interesting observation on his part, which resonates with my thinking. Due to respect to copyright, I shall not quote verbatim, but translate to own words.

" We are but a small part of a bigger immeasurable force, one so big, we cannot begin to fathom 'its' magnitude. We, as humans, come from many diverse cultures, which we cannot separate from, and which shape our thinking and outlook of this 'life' we live. Yet there are aspects of 'other cultures', like Judeo Christian/Islamic (etc) beliefs, that we adopt as result to exposure. I< as Mgema, have NO WAY of understanding this force. I do not believe in either heaven or hell, but I make up my mind on how to live with fellow human beings, and it has worked for me. I refuse t o label this 'force' as being a God, and any negativity as being Satanic. I just respect aspects of my life that I cannot change, smile at those that fascinate me, and accept those beyond my simplistic comprehension. I live, and l;et others live."

I respect Steve Harvey, the American comedian, for a statement he made during one of his shows; "if a religion works for you, then go right ahead and practice it. No one should ever come knock on your door to try and change your view."

Live, and live good as you should.

I'm related to Brad Pitt!

On my last blog, we had just discovered Raila is a distant relative of Dick Cheney. Well, with new revelations coming form reliable sources, it seems that Brad is related to US presidential candidate, Barack Obama, and better still, Angelina Jolie, his wife, is related to Hilary Clinton!! Brad and Barack are ninth cousins, while Angelina and Hilary are - well - ninth cousins!

In what would - normally - appear conny, Angelina was in Kisumu, she had been sent to her in-laws to check the homestead. Si you all know Obama is Geno's rela? And Raila is her uncle - baba mdogo? So now what are you waiting or me to spell?

Raila is Dick Cheney's Cousin!!!!!

Some more humour for the new year - we're on a role people!

Raila Odinga is related to Dick Cheney!! Well, if you know anything about Maths, you might have an inkling about deductions. The BBC, Raila says Barrack wuod - son of - Obama is jathurwa - my brother!! Quoting an interview with Raila, they claim the relation is through a paternal uncle, which would make them cousins.

On the flip side, Dick Cheney is rumoured to be a distant relation of Obama's. This being Africa, it doesn't take much to see how related Raila is to Dick..........

Some humour from Kenya

In what has to be the funniest thing in the last two weeks, looters in Mombasa were yesterday returning their spoils - after they were given a 6 day ultimatum by local witch doctors!

I have a dew proposals:
  • Can we elect these witch doctors to parliament?
  • Can we unleash them on Kibaki and Raila; I'm sure peace will prevail?!!
  • Can we get these guys all over the country to settle the marauding youth?
Now i can go to work with a smile on my face!!

Just Shurrrup!! All of you!

First and foremost, all those 'eminent persons' and ne'er-do-wellers telling us to stop fighting and maintain peace on full page newspapers advertorials, please spare us! All the religious leaders calling press conferences in five star city hotels, we can do without the crap - we have enough lousy programmes on telly already!!

HOW MANY LOOTERS BUY A NEWSPAPER ON THEIR WAY TO 'WORK'? OH, SO YOU THINK IN BETWEEN RAPING, LOOTING AND LYNCHING, THEY HAVE A NATION/STANDARD NEWSPAPER? OR THEY ARE WATCHING NEWS IN KONDELE (KISUMU SLUM) ON THE LOOTED MICROWAVES - WITH NO ELECTRICITY?!!! JUST USE THAT CASH TO DONATE FOODSTUFFS AND BUILDING MATERIALS TO THOSE AFFECTED, SPARE US THE BULLSHIT!!

What I'd like to see is a leader (A breed lacking in totality in this parts) going to the people ON THE GROUND, and telling them to fuck off and lay down their weapons!! What we are witnessing is genocide happening, whilst protagonists play in front of world news crew in the comfort of five star city hotels. Raila and Kibaki have no conscious - no -KIBAKI AND RAILA HAVE NO CONSCIOUS. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR KENYA. ALL THEY THINK ABOUT IS THEIR OWN SELFISH ENDS. KIBAKI AND RAILA HAVE NO CONSCIOUS. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR KENYA. ALL THEY THINK ABOUT IS THEIR OWN SELFISH ENDS. KIBAKI AND RAILA HAVE NO CONSCIOUS. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR KENYA. ALL THEY THINK ABOUT IS THEIR OWN SELFISH ENDS.......I'll sooner go to ground than renounce that simple fact.

Ga'ment spokesman, Alfred Mutua should just quit his job. I understand you are (over) paid to be a mouth piece, but you stink man, and no amount of tooth paste, mouth wash or detergent will EVER clear you!! How do you sleep? What do you tell your children when you get home every evening? I mean, have you no conscience? I know someone has to do the job, but good doctor, you had a good job as a teacher, side jobs writing columns, travelling, and now the chance to be Alfred Bruckheimmer Mutua, why erode all your sense of self worth and self pride with the the callous statements? Why, oh, why? Is the money worth it; is that what it's all about anyway? Because you don't even sound convinced of 99% of the nonsense that comes out your mouth, so why do it? History is a harsh judge.....I judge you as an individual, as Alfred, not the
Public Communications Secretary & Government Spokesperson, and may the hard barren African soil accept your remains once upon a time!

Mr Kibaki, after more than forty years in public service, it's sad it's come to this. This is your legacy. A divided, disunited Kenya, all done in a few mad years of ineptitude blunder after ineptitude blunder; a rule characterized with arrogance of the highest caliber, total disregard for the existing laws of the land, momentous corruption, unequal distribution of wealth, and lowest levels of patriotism. Hopefully, you'll one day retire from politics, and you'll be at home looking back at all these happenings... and you'll answer my question - what does it matter whether you have all the wealth in the world? So, fucking, what?!

Raila, don't - ah ah -wacha! You're not the people's champion, wewe ni nguruwe kama wengine (you're a pig like the rest of Orwell's ruling class)! You might have been robbed of electoral victory, but you're cut from the same cloth like Kibaki. You have exactly ZILCH new to offer, other than change of tenancy at State House, and direction where wealth will go to!

Compared to Kibaki, who's constituency is one of the wealthiest in terms of developments, Raila has less to show for his time in parliament But Kenya didn't become wealthy under his stewardship, we retrogressed. We are paying more for basic commodities than five years ago. The country's more polarized now than in Moi's darkest years, the wealth divide is a ridiculous as it ever will be, and the idiot doesn't see any of it! I refuse to buy the "Kibaki's a nice guy, it's his lieutenants who are bad" hog-wash! Paaaa-leeaze! Who does the busk stop with? Is he in State House against his own will? The man really irritates my skin every time he talks nowadays, stupid lines like " The vote was free and fair", and "Kenyans voted overwhelmingly for me"... Where in the world, even a despotic leader, did you see a president elected and not get even ONE congratulatory message from world leaders?!!! (Utatafuta chief - hakuna!) Museveni's doesn't count - the man needs fuel! Even Mugabe got for crying out loud.

May I curse him, his whole family and possibly clan, all yee spineless and greedy *** who sacrificed out future for your own ends, may the wraths of the gods behalf you. We cannot all break the law, we shall not harm in any way; we hope that all of you that have blood of Kenyan women and children in your hands, pay for it on this earth, for you deserve worse than you have meted out on generations of innocents....

The chicken have come home to roost

The sickening violence that has been visited upon us has it's roots way back... I don't believe this nonsense of tribal clashes - this is a break-down societal fibre, evidenced by the fact that it is the poor fighting fellow poor. The irony is their frustrations with the (rich) ruling class.

My thesis is this:

From Independence, successful governments perpetuated the class divide, 'Ubwenyenye', to translate George Orwell's (RIP) Animal Farm's characters. The sons of colonial (paramount) chiefs and some of the earlier recipients of colonial education took over the reins of power after independence, and maintained the status quo - the pigs. As pointed out here, and witnessed on 'Blood Diamonds', a History Channel informentary (I think I've cooked up a new English word), politicians world wide, and especially in third world countries, cling on to power by having poor masses who are easy to control. No politician cares about a well informed electorate - they want stupid people who come up with statements like "we don't need to read the draft constitution, Raila has read it fore us and decided it's wrong"!! (Kenya's constitution was supposed to be amended, and Kenyans were lead into wasting billions of shillings for a referendum for or against the draft. The said comments were attributed to ignorant 'subjects'). I digress.

Michuki, Nyachae, the Nyagahs, Angaine, Kenyatta, Njonjo, Keen, Moi, Ntimama, et al - these are Orwell's Pigs. They replaced the white faces in government, but retained the white mannerisms. Why, oh why, didn't Kenyatta just resettle the freedom fighters for example? What would it have hurt is mean ass to give them twenty acres each -after all that's what they fought for? He instead took huge tracts of land for his selfish self - and here we are. Kikuyus will be annihilated in this country for decades to come, and that's the legacy the last three presidents will carry to their graves. The hopeless masses who didn't have anything to fall back on, no education, no wealth, they are having their say! See, ever since Kenyatta went to Luo Nyanza in 1969 where he was pelted with stones, they decided to neglect the region in total! And it doesn't help that the leaders (what an oxymoron! ) of the area have never been development conscious - so while the Odingas have represented Bondo for a combined over thirty years, there's not even an inch of tarmac to show for it!! One time leaders like Rafael Tuju (current Foreign Affairs Minister) who did something for the people of Rarieda will only come back to parliament if nominated, just because he refused to kow-tow the Odinga line - How crass!!! Idiots, let's see how far you'll develop...

And to drive that point home even better, Raila left that constituency (Bondo) for the more populous Kibera, where thousands of his tribesmen live (when they migrate to Nairobi looking for menial jobs). To call the place squalor is an understatement! And yes, you guessed it - no development! I mean, any clever guy
will get donors and UN agencies to spotlight such a constituency, and if you play your cards well, you can get the odd millions spilling into an offshore account in the Caymans... I digress :)

When shall the rest of Kenya reach Nairobi's standards, low as they may by international standards? When shall we have universities all over the land; Ministry Head quarters outside Nairobi? Why does one have to come to Nairobi to renew their passport, sometimes travelling over a thousand kilometres, twice (dropping off, and collecting)? And the less educated, the less aware, the more marginalised the masses, the better. A good example: if middle-class citizens went to the streets to hold peaceful protest, the ga'ment will accord them:
  • a license
  • security
  • hearing - they can even walk to Police headquarters and hand over a petition.
  • press coverage -they will not blackout the media due to national security issues.
This is simply because these are people in the know, whom you as teh ga'ment of the day, need on your side.

Flip the script, poor slums dwellers holding a peaceful demo will get:
  • police blockade from marching
  • batons to 'show them the way home'
  • tear gas to make this way clearer
  • water canons to wash them on the way home
  • one or two at the morgue - hey we didn't define where (funeral) home is, right?!

When politicians are spending billions to be re-elected, they never state the source of these funds. Yet when kit comes to development, they always complain the ga'ment doesn't have enough funds! It is the same looted and stashed funds from state coffers and dirty business that has been perpetuated over decades that they 're-invest' for elections. That's why preachers with ill-gotten wealth are joining the political bandwagon. They have learnt the system well; mastered it and know how to play it to their advantage. The truth is, they would rather spend billions keeping the masses poorer, uneducated, unhealthier, and most of, disillusioned, than improve their lot! And because this has been going on for long, I guess they never saw a large group of unemployed would seek a way to express their anger at society, one they feel has neglected them and, possibly, kept them where they are far too long.... yes, chaps, the chicken have come home to roost! It's harvest time, grab your tools, kazi iendelee (toungue in cheek)!
